A SEASON OF THANKS!

We have been enjoying the fall season at Curbside. November is a busy month of serving for our ministry. Although we are not having Curbside outside until it gets warmer, we had two of our favorite events this month. First, we hosted our Thanksgiving meal for our families at Parker Bennett, and we had such a great time. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make this a wonderful celebration for our Parker Bennett families. We also distributed our Thanksgiving boxes to our Lee Point families. It was snowing, and we still had so many volunteers show up to serve our families. In this season of thanks, we want to take a moment and say THANK YOU to our volunteers. Without you all, Curbside would not happen.

We are also getting ready for our Bag of Blessings event. Bag of Blessings started as a spin-off of Operation Christmas Child. In 2011, while distributing simple Christmas presents, Curbside volunteers began to notice a larger need: shoes. While waiting to receive their Christmas gifts, most of the children were barefoot in the cold. This was when we knew Bag of Blessings must grow to include more than just presents.

Since 2012, Curbside’s Bag of Blessings has given each person, child and adult, who walks in our door a new pair of shoes, as well as a free toy and needed household items. We partner with several community churches and small groups to receive toys and household item donations. We rely FULLY on community involvement for toy donations. While families wait their turn to receive their “Bag of Blessings,” we provide holiday treats and dancing with the DJ! Santa Claus makes a special appearance, and the option to have a photo with him is available. We need all hands on deck for this event, so join us as we bless our neighbors this Christmas!

THANKS FOR DONATING!

WOW is all we have to say. We are so thankful for everyone who has donated to Bag of Blessings so far. We could not pull off this event without your donations. We are convinced that our Curbside volunteers are the absolute best. Thank you for giving!

We take time each month to spotlight one of the MANY wonderful Curbside volunteers. This month, we celebrate Derek Logsdon!

Derek has been with us for two years now. He is someone who always keeps us laughing. On a Thursday night, you can find him loving on our Curbside kids!

Not only does Derek serve every Thursday night at Curbside, he also teaches ESL classes at the Curbside building each week. Derek goes above and beyond for our community. His ministry doesn’t stop on Thursday nights; it is his entire life.

Thanks for all you do, Derek! We love you!

Because we won’t be back on the streets until next year doesn’t mean your relationships with these kids have to end! Challenge yourself to engage more. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our special events that will be happening very soon!
